Virginia was born in 1994 in Raleigh, NC, and moved to Franklinton, NC when she was four. She got started on guitar when
she was eleven, playing with her older siblings Katie Beth and Jesse on fiddle and banjo, respectively. She learned a lot mainly
by going to a weekly jam session and taking lessons from local musicians. She also performed with her siblings and a friend
in a band known as the Possum Road Bluegrass Band. Meeting the Hagwoods in 2006, she joined the
Bethesda Bluegrass Band in March, 2010. She plays a 1993 Martin HD-28. Musically, she is influenced by Tony Rice,
Dan Tyminski, Alison Krauss, Clay Hess, Kenny Smith, and the list goes on. She is thankful for the ongoing
support and encouragement of her family, friends, and complete strangers. Most of all she is thankful to God for
His undeserved mercy and grace, and for giving her the ability to do something that she loves.
Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 130:3-4 -
“If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared”.
